I started collecting beads about 15 years ago when a friend suggested we sign up for a beading class. It was love at first bead, and I've been making jewelry to go with my fiber work ever since. Not long ago I revisited my old Niddy Noddy store in Waukesha to find the Wise Art Glass Studio. Nothing has changed there except it is now filled with beautiful glass instead of yarn. It was wonderful being back in a space that held so many happy memories for me. I found these glass pendants there that I knew would be perfect for necklaces to go with my knitwear. In this case the pendants actually became the inspiration for my knit wrap. I hung the pendants on simple copper chains and picked out yarns to go with.I stranded the rust and cream yarns together and just let them twist and turn on their own as I knit, creating the random variegated stripes. It was a fun easy project that brightened up a gloomy March day in Wisconsin. If you are in the area I recommend a visit to the Wise Art Glass Studio. Plan on having lunch right next door at deli that serves the best Reuben sandwiches around!
